Nominee Profile: Wavecare Counselling and Support Services
We’re excited to introduce you to this year’s Award nominees over the coming weeks as we count down to the 2017/2018 Monash Business Awards Gala and winner announcements.
To kick things off, we spoke with Not for Profit nominee Wavecare. Wavecare provides counselling support to people in need of assistance due to illness, grief and loss, abuse, trauma, suffering, distress, homelessness, crisis, misfortune, disability, relationship issues and isolation. Wavecare’s specialist and diverse staff and volunteers assist people of varying cultures and ages, relying heavily on donations and the support of local businesses to provide these services.
CEO, Raymond Patterson and his team of staff and volunteer health professionals are first time nominees of the Monash Business Awards, so we asked him a few questions about the process.
MBA: What made you decide to nominate for the Awards this year Ray?
RAY: My Board of Management wanted an opportunity to showcase our organisation’s achievements and connect with other businesses in the City of Monash. This is because we rarely take the time to celebrate what we do.
MBA: How did you find the application process?
RAY: The process was very straightforward – so straightforward that I can’t remember the process other than it was straightforward.
MBA: Tell us why business awards are of importance to your business
RAY: Our work is so absorbing that there is not much time or opportunity to interact with other businesses. The Business Awards encourages us to be more outgoing and more connected to the diversity of the broader business community.
You can find out more about Wavecare and their services or make a donation at www.wavecare.org.au
So straight forward that he can’t remember the process – we love this! Thanks for your time Ray and we wish you all the best for the upcoming announcements.
If your business is located in the City of Monash there’s still time to nominate! It really is as straight forward as Ray said, so why not give it a go. You’ll find the application here.
