February 2020 Breakfast

As our first event for 2020, the Monash Business Awards are delighted to invite you to a motivational morning with Beau Vernon.

In 2012, Beau Vernon’s (https://beauvernon.com) life changed forever when a normal incident in a normal game of Aussie rules football left him with C5-C6 quadriplegia. Through the experience of rebuilding his life with a disability, Beau is now a Pride of Australia Medal Holder and Senior Coach of Phillip Island Football Netball Club, having led two teams to premierships.

Beau also works to draw employers’ attention to the fact that Australian businesses can be doing much more to have inclusive workplaces. As he says, “I want to be an advocate to show that people with a disability are as much a part of society as anyone else and that we should raise the bar on what can be achieved”.

Beau has been praised as a stand-out presenter, so be sure to join us for what is sure to be a fantastic morning.

Tickets include a hot plated breakfast, tea coffee and juice. Be sure to register, for what will be an inspirational start to your working day, and beyond!

September Lunch

19th September 2019

Join us for lunch on September 19th 2019 at Huntingdale Golf Course where James Madden from Flinders + Co will talk about how they reduced their carbon emissions and became the world’s first meat supplier to be 100% carbon neutral. In an article by the Weekly Times earlier this year, James said that “Becoming carbon neutral is our first big step in trying to show that even our industry — one that is becoming increasingly maligned for perceived environmental issues — can still make positive change for the future.”

Also on the program is the opportunity to hear from Monash based businesses who have been nominated for the 2019-2020 Business Awards and some great networking opportunities with our sponsors.

Tickets are available now though Eventbrite

Time to Shine

It was an evening to remember…. especially for the 12 Finalists and eventual Category winners – not to mention the Monash Business Awards Business of the Year.

Anticipation built during the afternoon as the tables were set at the prestigious Huntingdale Golf Course and the band and MC arrived, along with our roving “papparazzi” to welcome the guests.

Corporate Social Responsibility from Monash Business Awards

Sponsors, nominees and other guests mingled in the clubroom before proceedings got underway.

The Wise Foundation was the MBA Charity of Choice for 2018-9 and they sent us a video from East Timor where they are involved in creating safe drinking water for villagers and opportunities for barista training here in Melbourne. They were presented with a cheque for $2,500, raised from the raffles held at lunches during the year.

Each Finalist was presented with a certificate by our Gold Sponsors:

After a delicious main course and some time on the dance floor, it was time to find out who the Category Winners were.  These awards were presented by our Platinum Sponsors (photos below):

After more dancing, networking and dessert the Business of the Year was announced. Each of the finalists was eligible for this, regardless if they had won in a category, so it was with great pleasure that the Mayor of the City of Monash got to open the envelope to advise the guests that Grants of Australia had won the coveted Business of the Year award for 2018-19.

With 12 outstanding finalists, the nominations panel had a difficult decision to make regarding winners for categories and the overall award. Each finalist was assessed on their written application and their presentation at one of the lunches. Also taken into consideration was the contribution of the business to the Monash community as well as their contribution to a wider audience. All of the finalists have been pro-active in their endeavours and Grants of Australia stood out with their commitment to the health and wellbeing of not only their customers – both locally and internationally – but to the environment.

Congratulations to all the nominees and winners.
