The 2023 Monash Business Awards are now open and who better to advise new nominees than last year’s Monash Business of the Year, Whistle Design Group. Business Development Director Lucas Lastman recently talked to the MBA about his top three tips for businesses entering the 2023 awards.
1. Be ready for the interview: “When Monash Business Awards comes to visit, be ready for them,” Lucas said. “You can’t have people turn up to learn about you and you’re sitting in the middle of lunch or not there at all.”
2. Be open and transparent: “This is most important,” Lucas said. “When they (MBA judges) came in, we were ready to talk to them about what we have done and where we are coming from. Let them meet the team, let them see what you do. When they came here we just showed them, this is us, we’re not trying to be any bigger than we are. That’s the biggest bit of advice from me.”
3. Embrace the process: “My tip is really to embrace the process as a chance to showcase your business, not for yourself but for your team and your staff,” Lucas said.
