Monash Business Awards 2019 Gala Dinner
The 2018/19 Monash Business Awards wrapped up with a Gala Dinner on 26 July 2019, and what a night it was!
Our sponsors, Award finalists, supporters and guests gathered at the Huntingdale Golf Club to enjoy drinks, a fabulous three-course meal, music and dancing. The evening provided an opportunity to recognise standout local businesses as Award finalists and to announce the six Award category winners and Monash Business of the Year. We were also able to present the MBA Charity of Choice for 2018/19, The Wise Foundation with a cheque for $2,500, raised from the raffles held at MBA lunches during the year.
A highlight of the Gala Dinner was of course the announcement of the winner of the 2018/19 Monash Business of the Year. Mayor of City of Monash, Councillor Shane McCluskey, presented the Award to Grants of Australia. The company, who had nominated in the Innovation category, are a family business begun in a garage in 1984 by a mum and dad who were seeking a natural toothpaste alternative for their young children.
Now some 35 years later the company employs 20 employees, including daughter Tammy Seligmann, and are proudly certified as ‘Australian Made, Australian Owned’, ensuring that their products are manufactured in Australia with locally sourced ingredients.
As an extra special result of being awarded Business of the Year, Tammy was interviewed by 3AW’s Finance Guru, Scott Haywood, on the Let’s Talk Business program. It’s a great chat and if you missed the show on Sunday night.
